Solar Observation & Data Acquisition

Advanced techniques in H-Alpha imaging and photospheric documentation.

This intensive workshop provides a rigorous introduction to scientific solar observation. Participants will work directly with observatory-grade equipment to capture and process high-resolution solar data. The curriculum bridges the gap between aesthetic astrophotography and scientific data collection.

Module 1: Solar Physics Fundamentals

Day 1 - Morning

Understanding the photosphere, chromosphere, and corona structure.

Module 2: Equipment Safety & Setup

Day 1 - Afternoon

White-light filtration, Hydrogen-Alpha etalons, and sensor calibration.

Module 3: Data Acquisition

Day 2 - Full Day

High-speed video capture, gain/exposure balancing, and seeing assessment.

Module 4: Processing Pipeline

Day 3 - Morning

Stacking algorithms (AutoStakkert), wavelet sharpening, and false-color mapping.
